UCC – MSc Physiotherapy Degree
The UCC Professional Master of Physiotherapy (MSc Physiotherapy) degree is a two year full-time course of study which qualifies graduates for membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP). The program is aimed at candidates who will hold a bachelor’s degree in fields such as Kinesiology, Anatomy, Physiology, Biomedical Science or Sports and Exercise Science etc.
UCC Physiotherapy graduates are eligible for membership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (ISCP) and CORU, Ireland’s multi-profession health regulator. The ISCP is a member of the World Confederation of Physical Therapists which is the only global organization representing Physical Therapists around the world. The degree is fully recognized in Canada and the United States.
MSc Physiotherapy Curriculum
This program is full-time over three semesters per year, over two years. Students will attend lectures daily with some time dedicated to independent learning, during semesters 1 & 2. During Semesters 3, students will be on clinical placement for blocks of 7 weeks. One clinical placement blocks in semester 3 of year 1 and three clinical placement blocks in year 2, in semesters 2 & 3. Students need to engage in at least 1000 hours of supervised clinical practice to meet professional requirements. Students will need to complete a short research proposal and complete a research project of limited scope, relevant to the clinical profession of Physiotherapy.
