Many Canadians utilize the Student Line of Credit for Professional Students to fund their studies. These lines of credit are offered by a number of Canadian banks and are open to those studying medicine, dentistry, physiotherapy, pharmacy, etc. The line of credit usually offers the option to defer principal payments until after graduation to allow for residency, etc.
The Student Line of Credit for Professional Students is available from the Royal Bank of Canada, Bank of Montreal, TD Canada Trust, and others. The following links may be helpful:
The National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG), The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Bahrain (RCSI Bahrain), Trinity College Dublin (TCD), University College Cork (UCC), University College Dublin (UCD) and University of Limerick (UL) are considered eligible institutions by the Canadian Ministry of Education. Canadian students may apply for Canadian Federal loans, Provincial loans and Federal grants.
The Canada Student Loans Program (CSLP) offers financial assistance to those students who have been out of high school for four years and do not have parental annual gross income as a factor in determining the amount of their loan. This is important, as many students studying in Ireland have completed a four-year undergraduate bachelor’s degree at the time of entering one of the universities. The usual loan awarded varies by province.
Northwest Territories, Nunavut and Québec do not participate in CSLP directly but offer their own financial assistance programs for students. The CSLP delivers student financial assistance in partnership with most provinces and territories. These loans are interest-subsidized by the Canadian government while the student is enrolled in school and maintaining satisfactory academic progress, as determined by the individual province. Below you will find a listing of the available funding by Province.
